RECENTLY ON X, I engaged with a MAGA angel about the difference between wanting something to be true, and the truth; or at least the approximation of the same as best applied to future events:
Like Election 2024.
Short foreword. Regardless of what one feels about MAGA and its more prominent boosters, the person I spoke to is a genuinely gracious individual on top of being a true believer.
And yet what drives me especially batty about this crowd is this same severity of belief — minus critical thinking. I'm all for the power of right message, right time, especially now (Lord knows, Conservatives need a countervailing narrative to provide a glimmer of hope in the descending darkness), but my problem with the messianic frenzy surrounding Trump, beyond the obvious, is simple: The logic doesn't work.
Let me explain.
Clear to all but the most woke comes a frank assessment that we are being eaten alive from the outside in, like some sentient cancer (which is exactly what it is). Never in our wildest Bond villain fantasies could we have anticipated the sheer magnitude of betrayal launched by these devils against us.
And yet despite overwhelming evidence of a grinding coup d'état, most of us still refuse to organize our predicament into something concrete & articulate, which would naturally include a MOST WANTED LIST, identifying publicly and with comprehensive accuracy who these arch-villains are, and what to do about them.
Mum’s the word, but we know their tactics.
Their ‘A Bomb’ is the system itself, inverted by freedom’s capture into a weapon of State turned against us on every front, spearheaded by elected politicians, and those rolling the bureaucratic Panzers over our hedgerows and whatever remains of our broken dreams.
It isn’t rocket science, or beyond our inductive ken to unscramble the pieces into a diabolical whole, as it were, but it does require stretching to a degree beyond our psychological limits, which is why I believe the general top-down thrust from COVID on has caused such such crippling denial.
Unlike America’s founders & framers, rich in their cynical appreciation of men’s greed and native depravity which they saw if given full license to exploit freedom’s vulnerabilities (again, the system of Government itself, through which all other abuses are made possible, and hence 1A & 2A), we just can’t seem to get passed the fact that our Government is so corrupt as to rain death and destruction down upon we the people.
But acceptance of unvarnished reality is the first step to take in averting the coming cascade of falling rocks if any chance of stopping the Beast remains.
MAGA believes Trump will win in 2024. They are throwing everything they have behind him and this shining city on a hill. But to this observer, it’s all based on old-empire thinking, which is what troubles me. They can’t seem to see that those who stole the election last time and again in ‘22 (Kari Lake) and have more to answer for with each passing day which of course they can’t answer for without forfeiting their lives at some point, will never let Trump (or Bobby Jr.) anywhere near the WH.
At this point, a spoiled election in ‘24 is a fait accompli to my thinking (minus Divine intervention of some kind; I’m serious), as the old ways of voter reckoning disappear forever.
How the 2024 election is stolen or spoiled is less important than its certainty in my opinion (there are a number of ways to sink that ship, which I don’t really want to get into here; if you’re paying attention, you know), but I will say this: the single most successful way for the malefactors to retain power and avoid said reckoning is to initiate a Black Swan event that casts America into a state of emergency from which it never emerges, resulting in total Tyranny without nuance by those obsessed with depopulation and hacking Creation.
When I broached this overall idea in reply to a typical Ooorah post by the aforementioned MAGAmbassador, asking her to respond to a summary of this same thinking, she replied she had missed the initial comment and would I drop it again in her DM for her to answer directly?
Classy. Sure enough, she responded the very next day.
Due to the nature of my challenging observations vs. her ecstatic fervency, I didn’t know how it would play out (I don’t come at this with a chip on my shoulder, or to prove a point; I’m just trying to flesh out real if speculative concerns — the ‘what ifs’ a fundamental part of every strategy, right?, especially one whereby my own considerations Trump doesn’t make it across the finish line).
She sent me a personal video.
It doesn’t help that she is flawlessly pretty (a stone-cold beauty to be fair, even without filters), which lends a certain AI patina to the whole affair, but she came across as slightly robotic and a little miffed, to be honest. She was polite. And her basic response to my, ‘Trump supporters don’t count the vote, so what then?’, was that ‘[the Left] will have to overcome 100 million votes, and if they’re prepared for that, which they’re not, we’ll have to cross that bridge when we get there.’
No Plan B in other words.
I thanked her and thought better of pursuing the matter, except that I changed my mind later and considered a different approach: perhaps I could provide her with a soft lesson on the predictability of tyrants, that if effective, might pry open a door to ideas not so cozily tucked into a warm bed that can allow sweet dreams.
And so I wrote a little story I call, ‘The Parable of the Dam’ to send to her (notice I put the word ‘Parable’ in the title which implied some reflection on the part of the reader). You see, I want to help MAGA make sense so that win or lose, all options are on the table ahead of time; while the last thing I want to do is to discourage anyone holding Liberty’s torch aloft.
Here is the story, edited slightly from the original:
Parable of the Dam
A country builds a dam around a big river, cutting off water flow to the valley below.
The people of the valley are angry. The river was their life. So, they nominate a spokesman to go to the capital and argue for their rights.
The humble man packs and leaves.
He's well-received when he arrives in the city. Everyone listens to him and some politicians applaud him and his passionate appeal. The delegate returns home and tells his neighbors his discussions went well, and that he heard the Government was going to make things right for them.
People go to bed that night feeling hope for the first time in a long time.
In the early morning, around 3 a.m., the floodgates of the dam open releasing all the water in the basin, washing those in the valley away.
Not a single soul survives.
The news of the tragedy sparks protests in the streets of the capital, but after a week or so the anger subsides and everyone returns home.
Much later, two backpackers are walking by the shore where the village once stood. They stop by a cross nailed to a tree marking the spot. The men stand motionless in respect. The younger of the two finally says, 'Why did it happen?' The other looks out at the dry plain and then back at his companion.
'What do you hear?,' he asks.
'Nothing,' his friend responds.
'Exactly,' the older man says, 'Nothing.'
The End.
I thought, I hoped this fictional method of uncloaking disturbing truths greater than our childish reticence to address them might knock some sense into her (albeit gently) — enough, perhaps, to spark a grownup conversation beyond the boundaries of closed thinking MAGA have clearly set for themselves.
Her response: ‘❤️’
